Development of Eco-Efficiency Index by Emergy Analysis

چکیده

The world is now facing difficulties such as climate change, energy consumption and economic crisis and the green growth is commonly used as a solution to overcome that difficulties. To achieve the green growth eco-efficiency is a very important key. Studies on eco-efficiency have been done by others using financial value of product which cannot show the real value of the product. In this study, Eco-Efficiency Index based on emergy analysis, which is a science-based evaluation system that represents both the environmental values and the economic values with a common measure, was developed. Application of Eco-Efficiency Index on different types of vehicle, electrical power plants and manufacturing industry was done in this study. As a result product with more services and less goods came out to be the most eco-efficient product. This study also proposes the use of Eco-Efficiency Index on helping consumers to make green purchasing decisions and policy maker to make green policy decisions.
